Bristol’s hidden gem | A Photographer's Perspective on The Mount Without
talking about one of bristol’s best wedding venues

Today I’m going to talk about (and big up!) one of my favourite venues in the country, and arguably Bristol's most captivating wedding venue.
I'm of course talking about the biggest gem nestled in the heart of Bristol’s vibrant city: The Mount Without.
what’s the mount without like as a wedding venue?
As a Bristol wedding photographer with a passion for documenting stories in their most authentic form, I've had the privilege of witnessing countless couples say "I do" in some truly breath-taking settings.
However, The Mount Without holds a special place in my heart, for its unique blend of history, ruggedness, and timeless charm.
Nestled near the top of the city centre, The Mount Without has panoramic views of Bristol's skyline.

From the moment you step foot through the double doors into the Mount Without, you're greeted with high ceilings painted blue with clouds, and an enormous gold suspended infinity symbol. It cost as much to install this piece as it did to produce it! There are alcoves filled with vintage mismatched furniture, and of course the huge stain glass window at the rear.
Moving outside, and going down a small set of steps, you can find yourself in the Crypt underneath the Mount Without. Here, the ceilings are much lower and concaved, with the remnants of old graffiti still marking the ceilings from when the building was still abandoned. Down here, there is a fully stocked bar and more pockets of mismatched comfy sofas and armchairs. It’s the perfect place to host your evening party, with one end being a great spot for a band or DJ to set up, and the other has a quiet nook for the granny and gramps, or for anyone that needs a breather!
(And If you’re lucky enough, Andy will let you go to the top of the spire!) However it’s not for the feint of heart, those stairs are steep and narrow. Not that it’s stopped brides going up their in the dresses before though.
the Mount Without provides the perfect backdrop for a wedding for couples who like to ‘colour outside the lines.’ With it’s history of being built in 1147, bombed in ww2, abandoned and then a victim of arson, the mount without finally began it’s transformation in 2019 with Michele and the team. this venue effortlessly combines the perfect mix of derelict ruggedness with it’s scarred walls, and modern sophistication with carefully selected areas of renovation, ultimately making it a photographer's playground and an ideal place to get married.
All in all, despite shooting at the mount Without multiple times, it always produces endless opportunities for breath-taking photographs.
