Alternative Las Vegas Elopement
Where to begin with this elopement…
In 2017 I went to the US with a friend for a road trip. Starting in Vegas, and ending in L.A.
Whilst I was in Vegas, I met Chris and Tamara, the coolest mutha effers who were there to get married on their own. We got chatting and I ended up shooting their elopement day alongside my buddy.
We were the only guests on their wedding day, and even signed their wedding certificate!
We shot their wedding elopement ceremony at the Wynn in Las Vegas, only days after Sharon & Ozzy renewed their vows in the same room, so that made it even cooler.
We went to downtown Vegas for their meal, and found the coolest little pizza bar called “Evel Pie,” an Evel Knievel themed and inspired bar. Afterwards, we checked out all that DTLV has to offer. Neon lights, cheap beer, gambling and a host of characters who all cheered Chris & Tamara on in their wedding gear!
Day 2 rolled around, and we went out in the hired Mustang to the salt flats and to Nelson’s ghost town to get some more cool shots of the two of them to make the most of the time we had together.
I struggled to settle on an edit for these, as my mind was torn between the super vintage, “found in the attic film look” and a cleaner true to life edit… So I did both and sent both over! I just loved the thought of Chris & Tamara’s grandchildren finding a box of their grandparents wedding photos in the attic, and seeing how cool they were (and likely still are when they become grandparents in the distant future!)
As we drove along, I spotted a bunch of people on quads tearing up the dust on the salt flats, and I just knew I had to spark up a conversation with them and ask them to do some doughnuts around our cool couple!
After dusting ourselves off, we rolled on down to Nelson’s ghost town to shoot the sunset and some more cool pictures together. It was thanksgiving day, and we got chatting to the owner of the town. He offered to take us round the back of his property to fire off a few rounds… something we couldn’t pass up! Life and travel are all about opportunities and adventures.
Since 2017, we have remained close friends, bonded by the cheap booze and dust from the Las Vegas desert. Myself and Chris started a band together, (inside the Luxor, which is the pyramid shaped hotel… an amazing origin story. A pyramid in the desert.) We’ve spent time together as families with our kids, and they’re even planning on moving to live closer to us.
All reasons why I absolutely love my job!
